The Travel Industry Careers Association in conjunction with TAFE NSW Institute recently conducted  research on the ‘Perception of Travel as a Career Choice’.

The Objective of the Research Project: To discover the perception working age people in Australia have towards a career in the Travel and Tourism Industry.

Overall Objective: To collect and analyse data received from two target groups, viz. industry employees and non-industry people, which can be used by the Travel Industry to “Create Marketing Message/Campaign that makes Travel & Tourism a Great Career Choice & Place to Work.”

Supporting Objectives: The information gathered will assist in understanding the perception each group has regarding a career in the industry. The variances between these two groups will give an enhanced insight into the preconceived ideas held by non-industry people.

Conclusions: The findings revealed excellent information that will prove to be very useful for enticing people into a career in Travel and Tourism. A full and comprehensive analysis comprising demographics and responses from each target group will be found in “Research Results”.

Recommendations:  By analysing and comparing the responses of both industry and non-industry surveys, several major areas have been exposed that could be utilised in promotional campaigns, when recruiting for the Travel and Tourism Industry.
